We are so glad you’re here and interested in learning more about our photo + film team. Emily Michelle Photo + Film began 10 crazy years ago when Emily dropped out of college (after lots of lectures from her parents) to pursue professional photography, which looking back was a little insane. Five years in, her sister, Allison, picked up a camera to photograph the birth of Emily’s daughter and it was history from there. Allie has a natural eye for gorgeous captures and became a full time member of the EMP team. The following year, Lauren joined the videography side and after a year of intense training, became our first full time videographer. Since then, we have added on Bessie Lou, a hybrid photo/video lead and part of the fam, as well as a handful of amazing second photographers, videographers and staff to keep the team running smoothly.
Unlike other photo/video companies, we are are a small, close knit, family ran team that retains our creatives for the long haul with a low (okay, nonexistent so far) rate of turnover throughout the collective. As a bride, this is amazing for you because you are fully supported leading up to and on your wedding day by a whole group of girl bosses who want to see you get everything you want from this experience with us!
We LOVE working as a team of collective creatives and hope you see the value in hiring a wedding photo + film company vs an individual or huge corporate company - your experience will still be amazingly friendly, sociable, quality and connective.
A team supports each other, and in turn, supports you. If your lead photo/video had a major emergency, we all love and care for each other and would step in to fill in the gaps as needed, and there would be no need to worry about about not having coverage on your wedding day.
All of the responsibility of editing, booking, communication, marketing, posting, branding, equipment service, travel…. you get it… doesn’t fall on just one person so we are always quick to communicate, have lower travel fees since we travel together and are always up to date on our turnaround times. We have lots of help and shoulders to lean on!
We all have the same equipment, same shooting style, same skillset, passion, and training for the job. Unlike hiring a large photo and film company, where each photographer may put out slightly different work, we are very intentional in making sure our brand and work is as cohesive as possible between photographers and videographers. And, unlike hiring individuals, your photo and video products will go together perfectly, like peanut butter and jelly.
