March 1, 2018 - This Houston, Texas wedding has been one of my favorites to photograph so far! The entire day was absolutely perfect. All throughout the week, I watched the forecast and was worried it was going to be a downpour throughout the entire wedding - and although I've shot in a few downpours, me and Alyssa had spoken earlier about how she hoped that it wouldn't be wet and mushy on her wedding day! Despite there being a 70% chance of rain, we didn't see anything more than a sprinkle and the filtered light through the light cloud covering made for some dreamy images.
When I arrived, I was absolutely floored by how gorgeous the venue was. I had never shot at The Carriage House, but oh boy - it was fantastic. Everything there was created with photography in mind. From the light, bright windows to the different textures throughout the building and tall ceilings, this place is a photographers dream.
Alyssa's bridal party was pretty large, with a total of 8 girls and 8 guys! Truthfully, I'm a fan of huge bridal parties and think they can make the day so fun! This wedding was no exception, and the Bridal Suite was full of laughter and sweet moments shared between the bride and her lifelong friends.
They say you learn something new everyday, and as a photographer, I really do learn something new every time I go to a wedding. For Alyssa and Tyler's wedding, I learned what a "Haircut" was. And if you're thinking its something that Elite Beauty, the hair and makeup artists hired for the wedding, had something to do with - you're wrong! I may not have learned anything about photography, but I did learn a fun new party trick.
The ceremony, held in The Carriage House's brand new chapel, was absolutely breath taking - and I mean that. Even as a photographer that goes to several weddings a month, I got caught up in the romance and beauty of Tyler and Alyssa's ceremony. From the absolutely packed house (seriously, there wasn't an empty seat in this HUGE chapel) and the couples handwritten vows, to the minister (who also happened to be the brides Uncle) and the heartfelt message he gave - I almost forgot that I was there to take photos!
After the ceremony, came the reception - and let me tell you, this was possibly one of the most difficult venues to light that I have ever photographed. The high ceilings and dim lights, with huge windows letting in nothing but starlight - I knew I had to bring my A-Game. Thankfully, I bring tons of lighting options to every single wedding and am prepared for any lighting situation.
I have to say that I just LOVE these reception images - seriously, some of my favorites, and they are absolutely gorgeous. You can really see how much fun everyone was having in every single shot.
Congradulations Alyssa and Tyler - your wedding was one for the books! I'm wishing you to many years of happiness, love, and laughter (which I know you two will have.)
